December has begun which means much colder days are ahead of us. One of my least favorite parts of winter is the pasty, lack-luster color that my skin turns during these chillier months. The great solution to a pasty complexion? Self-tanner! Self-tanner is easily the beauty product that I use the most in the winter time. After trying what feels like every self tanning product on the market, I’ve found a few that are worth going out and buying.
Before you go out and buy a self tanner, it is important to consider different factors such as price and what type of consistency you want to use. For first time users, you can never go wrong with a lotion that gradually gives you a tan (I’m pretty sure every girl and her mother has used Jergens at one point in her life). As you get more comfortable with using tanning products you can venture into the mists, mousses, and gel lotions that are a bit trickier to apply, but have great color payoff and give the most realistic of faux tans. I am now going to share with you six of my favorite products (both high and low end) to use for creating that perfect sun kissed glow…
1. SUN Laboratories Tan Overnight Self Tan Lotion – This stuff is truly amazing. What makes the SUN tanning lotion unique is that it has green undertones, which helps the lotion develop into a natural looking brown based tan rather than a fake orange based tan.
2. L’Oreal Paris Sublime Bronze ProPerfect Salon Airbrush Self-Tanning Mist – The main benefit to this product is that the mist is easy to apply and sprays evenly when you apply it all over your body.
3. Clinique Self Sun Face Tinted Lotion – This tinted face lotion works for all skin types and gives your skin an immediate tint as soon as you apply it. With this product you won’t need to worry about break outs or clogging your pores because it’s dermatologist tested, non-acnegenic, and oil-free.
4. Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs – If you want immediate color on your body that will come off in the shower, then this is the product for you. Airbrush Legs is classified as a makeup rather than a self-tanner because the color does not develop or stay on your skin.
5. Jergens Natural Glow FACE Moisturizer – Just like the Jergens body lotion, this product gives your face a gradual glow and has the added benefit of SPF.
6. St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse – Although pricey, this mousse does wonders in giving the most natural looking color to your skin. The mousse consistency is light weight, easy to apply, and gives an even looking tan.
