It felt like it would never happen, but fall is finally here in the south. While you might be dreading the colder temps, there’s no denying the fact that your wardrobe needs an update. Follow these five tips and you’ll be sure to be on-trend and comfortable this season.

Swap out your jean jacket for a fuzzy coat. Jean jackets won’t keep you warm on your walk to your 8 AM. Instead, try a fuzzy coat that looks cute over anything, like this one from Urban Outfitters. You’ll be thanking me later, because it will probably be the softest thing you’ve ever worn.

Don’t put away your tank tops just yet! Layer your favorite fitted tank over a plain long or short sleeve tee for a trendy look. A lace camisole will also do nicely. Take some inspiration from everyone’s favorite 90’s style icon, Cher Horowitz from Clueless.

Trade your frayed jean shorts for flare jeans. Your next day exploring the city needs a pair of flare jeans. They will fulfill your boho needs without making you freeze. Check out these ones from Free People.

Exchange your espadrilles for some white booties. It might seem silly to buy anything white after Labor Day, but hear me out and forget about the rules for a minute. These shoes have been a surprising trend this fall, and they are the perfect way to dress up jeans and a sweater. Try this pair from Steve Madden.

Finally, put away your favorite summer romper, and pull out a corduroy skirt. Nothing says fall like a corduroy skirt! They come in so many different colors, so it’s not difficult to find a unique version that matches your style. Pair it with those white booties you just ordered, and you’re all set for your next nice dinner. Here’s a cute one I found at Zara.

Keep these tips in mind and you’ll be looking good and feeling fierce all season long.
