Coachella, a once celebrated music festival, has recently turned into a star-sighting phenomenon. Located in California’s Coachella Valley, the three-day music and arts event features many genres including rock, indie, hip hop, and electronic music. Through the years many well renowned artists have played in the fest. However, Coachella has turned into a celebrity spotting sport, rather than a music lover’s experience. Every year fans anticipate which of their favorite celebs will show up and who will sport the “hippest” new trend. Not only do the fans want to see the apparel, but also who shows up with whom. In the past, celebrity couples have paraded around Coachella looking effortlessly cool, leaving their fans with pure jealousy. This past weekends Coachellafest was filled with stars of all generations. Some of these celebrities include Katy Perry, Hilary Duff, Lindsay Lohan, Leonardo DiCaprio, Paris Hilton, and many more. Without a doubt all of these celebs participated in the unspoken competition of who can dress the grungiest.

Here in New Orleans, we pride ourselves on our own mini version of Coachella: Jazz Fest. Coming up right around the corner, this event should be amazing this year. With artists including Maroon 5, John Mayer, Billy Joel, The Black Keys, Dave Mathews Band, and countless others, Jazz Fest 2013 proves that it is on the rise to becoming one of the best festivals of the year. Though Jazz Fest definitely does not cater to celebrity sightings, it is still a festival that is genuinely all about the music!
