How long have you been involved in Tulane’s BSU?
This is my second year on the Eboard for tBSU
What inspired you to become president?
I have always taken on leadership roles since I was young. When the President graduated, it just felt natural to take over.
What has been your favorite part about being involved in BSU?
Meeting and connecting with new people are my favorite parts of being involved period. I love to meet people who are interested in making a change, no matter what it might be. I love seeing people’s visions come to life. For example with GENTE. It was non-existent when I started at Tulane and it has become such an amazing organization that has created such a great sense of community for latin@s on campus.

What has been your favorite event to work on?
My favorite event that BSU does is Black Out Ball. It is a compilation of our inauguration of the new E-Board, a party for our members, and a concert all in one. Its the last program of the year so its all fun, no stressing.

What is the most challenging part about your position of President of BSU?
The most challenging part of being a leader period is learning when to lead and when to fall back. For me, its hard to lead and not want to control everything, but being a leader sometimes means delegating responsibilities to others so that it can all get done stress free! The delegating part is whats difficult for me. I like things a certain way, and if it doesn’t reach that vision, I am disappointed.
What can we look forward to this semester from BSU?
BSU has a LOT going on this semester!! Feb. 22 is a movie night, Feb. 27-Mar. 3 is Black Arts fest, which is a celebration of the Arts in the Black Community(our biggest celebration of the entire year!!!) A finance Lecture and workshop in March, a Game Night April 7, Black Out Ball April 12, AND FINALLY Soul Food Fest April 13.
What message does BSU promote?
BSU strives to offer a support system for black students and other students of color, to ensure that they have a voice on campus.
Who is eligible to become a member of BSU?
Anyone who supports the Black Community can join. Any race, religion, sex, sexual preference can join!!
