Buzzfeed Unsolved’s Most Compelling Evidence

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

Shaniac or Boogara, we all love Buzzfeed Unsolved. Though the Ghoul boys may not have found definitive evidence of ghosts…yet, there have still been more than a few moments that might make even the most devoted Shaniac pause. In honor of the new season, here’s a list of Unsolved’s most compelling evidence so far.

The Sallie House

Episode: 3 Horrifying Cases of Ghosts and Demons (S1, E3)

Evidence: The boys try communicating with a demon through turning a flashlight on or off. The flashlight turns on or off immediately in response to multiple questions and demands, such as “turn the flashlight on if you don’t like us” or “If you want to eat Ryan’s heart, turn the light on”. This location cemented Ryan’s fear of demons and remains the one place he would never go back to.

Timmy’s Blue Rubber Ball

Episode: The Haunted Halls of Waverly Hills Hospital (S2, E4)

Evidence: Ryan tries to play with a spirit called Timmy by throwing a rubber ball down a dark hallway. After hearing the ball bounce a few more times than it should’ve, they find the stopped right in front of graffiti on a wall that says “Ryan”.

The Footsteps in the Dauphine Orleans

Episode: The Haunted Quarters of the Dauphine Orleans Hotel (S2, E9)

Evidence: First, the audio recorder picks up on a whispering voice possibly saying, “I’m right there”.

Then at 4 AM Ryan and Shane hear footsteps from the balcony outside when no one is out there. They continue to hear loud stomping and footsteps above them for hours. While one room above them was occupied, the person staying in the room confirmed that they hadn’t been walking around and also heard footsteps all night.

The Spirit Box in Eastern State Penitentiary

Episode: The Captive Spirits of Eastern State Penitentiary (S3, E3)

Evidence: There is a massive amount of evidence throughout the episode, including disembodied footsteps, a distant scream, a strange whisper, and even a human whistle. However, the most compelling evidence came from the spirit box’s first ever usage, particularly that attained in Al Capone’s cell block. Ryan asks the possible spirit “What colors are our jackets?” to which the spirit correctly responds, “Brown and White”.

The Woman Singing in Colchester Castle

Episode: The Chilling Chambers of Colchester Castle (S3, E9)

Evidence: While walking up the great stairs, the audio recording picks up the sounds of a woman singing.  Even Shane had to admit it was a weird one and Ryan believes it to be the strongest EVP they’ve ever gotten.

The Motion Detector in The London Tombs

Episode: The Subterranean Terrors of the London Tombs (S3, E10)

Evidence: There are several instances of strange activity in the tombs. When changing batteries on their equipment, the boys hear loud footsteps towards the end of the hall, though they were unable to record most of it. Then, in the Roman Room, which is above the area in which most of the tomb’s bones were found, a light set up as a motion detector that could only be activated by someone passing by it was turned on by seemingly nothing.

The Full-Bodied Apparition in the Sorrell-Weed Mansion

Episode: The Horrifying Sorrel-Weed Haunted Mansion (S4, E7)

Evidence: This episode begins with distinct footsteps, voice and a dog bark emitting from the supposedly condemned upstairs and culminates in the only full bodied apparition the show has ever claimed to witness. While exploring a lower level of the mansion, Ryan sees a figure walk by the stairs, some of which is captured on camera.
