I love New Orleans. My list of reasons why could be a whole different article, but today I am focusing on my favorite: the food scene. There are dozens of cuisines represented that I never seem to have enough time to try them all. I don’t even have many “regular” restaurants because I always have a new restaurant to check out. Here are a few highlights of this school year’s adventures.

Brussels Sprouts From Copper Vine

New Orleans loves their brussels. They seem to be on the menu everywhere I go! After becoming a big fan myself, these are some of the best ones I’ve tried. The extra parmesan cheese on top is just *chef’s kiss*.

Cinnamon Babka King Cake From Saba

Mardi Gras and king cake season may be long over, but I’m still thinking about the unique king cake at this Israeli restaurant. This is a classic example of the fusion of cuisines that New Orleans is known for.

Apple Sage Dog From Dat Dog

Even though New Orleans is a city known for meat and seafood, there are a lot of great options out there for vegetarians or flexitarians like myself. This hot dog is so delicious, especially when loaded with toppings like creole mustard and grilled onions.

Crawfish Mac & Cheese From Superior Seafood

I love a good crawfish boil, but I didn’t realize how versatile this local staple is until I tried this amazing mac & cheese. The spicy crawfish makes it more interesting and almost fancy. 10/10 would recommend.

Sweet Potato Tacos From Val’s

Val’s is a new spot that I’ve been meaning to try but never got around to until recently. I’m mad at myself for waiting this long because the sweet potato tacos are amazing. I normally like to order a variety of tacos, but next time I might just have to get a full order of these.

Croissant From La Boulangerie

La Boulangerie feels like Paris in the best way possible. Louisiana used to be French after all! I desperately needed a snack one day when I was in the area, and this was everything I needed and more. I have to go back and sit down for a meal.

This school year has been filled with great memories and lots of good eats. Here’s to more in the future!
