The end of the spring semester can be synonymous with the season finales of several of my favorite shows. As a bit of a TV junkie, I look forward to taking a break from studying or ending a night at the library by watching the most recent episode of one of the many shows I watch each week.  But, when the “ONLY 3 EPISODES LEFT” ads begin to appear, I begin to panic a little. How am I supposed to wait until September to find out what happens next on New Girl and Homeland? Enter summer television shows. Here are five shows we can’t wait to watch this summer:

  1. The Newsroom. This is definitely the show I am most looking forward to watching this summer. For those of you who are unfamiliar with The Newsroom, it’s a fictional series following a news anchor and his newsroom staff. This show is witty, intriguing, and the most interesting part about it is that every single news event chronicled on the show is a real-life event that happened around two years ago. Viewers get an inside-look at the chaos, ups, and downs of working in a newsroom. The Newsroom returns for its second season on July 14 on HBO.
  1. Arrested Development. After a seven-year hiatus, Arrested Development is one of the most anticipated shows of the summer. Only this time, its fourth season will release all fifteen episodes at once on Netflix. Even if you decide to spend your whole day watching all fifteen episodes, it still won’t be the end of Arrested Development. The movie is projected to come out within the next two years.  Sunday, May 26th, at precisely 12:01 AM, Arrested Development returns on Netflix.
  1. Whose Line is it Anyway.  This improv comedy show is FINALLY coming back and I could not be more excited. For those of you who love awkward humor as much as I do (and my roommates), this show is a must-watch. After a six-year hiatus, Whose Line is it Anyway returns July 16th on the CW.
  1. So You Think You Can Dance. As a dancer, I have a soft spot in my heart for this show. I look forward to watching it every single summer and seeing what new, interesting choreography the show will introduce me to. The tenth season premieres May 14th on FOX.
  1. Girl Meets World. The Boy Meets World spinoff series is going to be one of my new favorite shows. Topanga and Cory are back, only this time, they’re raising two children of their own. And what would a Boy Meets World spinoff be without Eric, Shawn, and Mr. Feeny? They’ll all be returning with the rest of the gang, a dream for the 90s child in all of us. While an official premiere date has not been scheduled, rumor has it Girl Meets World will begin airing near the end of the summer.
