5 Concerts to Put in Your Calendar Right Now

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

1. Flow Tribe @ Freret Street Publiq House, April 27th

(with Naughty Professor)

Perhaps the only drawback of seeing Flow Tribe is the possibility of dancing so hard that your legs stop working, which makes this date even more perfect because it’s on a Saturday. Sundays are meant for bed + gatorade and netflix anyway. Flow Tribe perfectly blends traditional New Orleans brass with funky regee in a way that is way more than infectious. Point blank, I just appreciate these guys for somehow combining music that my dad and I both enjoying car dancing to.

2. Cardinal Sons @ Freret Street Publiq House, May 3

(with Gold and the Rush, Coyotes, and The Kid Carsons)

The fact that a good amount of the people in these bands are Tulane graduates should be enough, but if for some reason you need more to convince you, all of these bands provide an eclectic and unique approach to indie rock that any self prescribed college hipster should feel obligated to enjoy. I know I do.

3. Jazz Fest, April 5 – May 4

If you need an explanation for this then you should probably just stop reading this article now.

4. The Revivalists @ Pinchapalooza, April 6

Gaining fandom at a rapid pace, the Revivalists are basically a staple in any young New Orleans concert goer’s repertoire. Though the band is always a good time and worth seeing, Pinchapalooza offers the unique opportunity to enjoy amazing music while eating copious amounts of crawfish. Plus, there’ll be 6 other bands to check out. Win win win? Yes.

5. American Authors @ House of Blues, March 24

(With Wild Cub)

Did I once walk out of an American Authors concert because it was too corny and my best friend and I were insatiably hungry for lasagna? Yes. However, with their growing fame and the addition of Wild Cub as an opener, I’d say it’s worth a gander. Plus, if you also get the corny vibes, you can always just leave after Wild Cub in favor of lasagna (or any other sort of carb related noms).

So there you have it, now you have absolutely no reason to complain about there being nothing to do this spring besides Boot/Palms/Fumps. Party on, young music lovers.
