Super Bowl 50: Everything You Actually Need to Know

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tufts chapter.

Whether you’re a football fanatic, or, like me, watch the Super Bowl 75% for the ads, I’ve compiled the answers to your most pressing Super Bowl questions.

How many people actually watch this thing?

If you only watch the Super Bowl because you’d have no one else to hang out with, you wouldn’t be totally wrong. Last year, 114.5 million people watched the game.

How are the Super Bowl performers picked?

Excited for Beyoncé tomorrow? Confused why she’s performing the halftime show again? According to Sarah Moll, an NFL entertainment and TV programming director, a panel of NFL employees selects a performer “at the top of their game and who will put on the coolest 12 minutes.”

The halftime show used to be performed by college marching bands.

How much is a Super Bowl commercial?

Remember Budweiser “Lost Dog” commercial last year? That adorable puppy’s airtime was worth about $4.5 million. And, this year, a 30-second spot is worth around $5 million.

Who will win?

According to Jimmy Fallon’s reliable puppy sources, this year’s Super Bowl winners will be the Denver Broncos.
