Self-Care Tips for your Halloweekend

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tufts chapter.

The weekend starts on Thursday here, so you’ve probably already gotten a good bit of Halloween partying done. That being said, the big day itself is still coming up, so here are some self-care and recovery tips you can use to finish the month off strong!

1. Stay hydrated

This is an all-purpose tip – it’s good for your skin, it’s good for your body, it’ll help you pace yourself a bit, it’ll soothe that pounding headache… Water is key! And hey, hot drinks will help you celebrate the holiday spirit with good old cinnamon, nutmeg and pumpkin spice.

2. Stay warm

We’ve been blessed with a surprisingly warm forecast this year, but the weather here can be fickle! Leggings are an easy way to add extra warmth without interfering with a costume design. Extra points if you can incorporate a stylish jacket or scarf into your costume.

3. Remember to remove your makeup

Take care of your skin! At least do a quick rinse before you tumble into bed at 3 a.m. Consider putting some baby wipes in your bag so your layers of glitter and kaleidoscopic colors don’t just sit on your face overnight.

4. Try to get some work done

I know, I know. But try to do a little work. It doesn’t have to even be a full assignment, just bits and pieces: your future self will thank you when you’re drop-dead tired and you only have three readings due the next day instead of five.

5. Earmark a day for rest

Following the above, try not to schedule ragers all day every day. Reserve a day that you can sleep in, take your time getting out of bed, wash up, and maybe not have to use your frazzled brain too much. Your body and mind will thank you.
