Best Dressed: 2012 Grammy Awards

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tufts chapter.

The Grammy Awards are all about music (duh) and this year, the 54th annual Grammy Awards did not disappoint. Everyone was buzzing about Adele’s six trophies, Jennifer Hudson’s tribute to Whitney Houston, and Katy Perry’s powerful post-break-up performance. There were many surprising performances, winners, and losers. Behind all the music however, was something many of us just find as exciting: the fashion!

While some artists pulled out all the stops, others could have tried a little harder. But, how does a true artist shine on the red carpet? By wearing something that can outshine their incredible voices: Sequins. Sequins were everywhere this year on the red carpet. Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Adele, Katy Perry, and Kelly Osbourne all opted for a sparkly ensemble. Even Nicki Minaj, who never follows fashion guidelines, wore a little sparkle. Rihanna and Gwyneth Paltrow chose to go with a simple black dress, but paired it with gold accessories (another trend on the red carpet this year, seen on Paris Hilton as well). Overall the Grammys have always been a time for musicians to shine, and this year’s red carpet was no exception.
