Named for its location, Area IV in Cambridge, this restaurant/bar/bakery/cafe has a lot to offer the college-aged scene. Located near the MIT campus, there are ample cool buildings to admire, shops to check out, and a great movie theater nearby (did I mention ice skating and kayaking?). However, this eatery has a lot more going on, outside of the neighborhood for which it was named.

The scene at Area Four is the epitome of cool with a do-it-yourself aesthetic that is bound to attract the trendy and young. After entering through the modern façade, you are seated near two wood burning ovens where you can watch your food cook and bask in the wonderful smells emanating from the ovens.

The food is delicious (and for a college student seemingly gourmet). It tastes like it was homemade (and is not only good because its 2 a.m.) and includes ingredients that are out of the ordinary on your pizza: gorgonzola cheese, caramelized onions, and walnuts, etc. Of course for those of us that like the classics, a mozzarella cheese pizza is available too. The menu has several options outside of pizza. It features yummy soups, salads, mac n’ cheese, burgers, gyros, and much more (not to mention a pretty loaded brunch menu).

What makes this the ultimate Collegiette destination outside of the dĂ©cor and delicious grub? The deals, the games, and the all-inclusive environment of a bar, cafĂ©, restaurant, bakery, and now hot dog stand all in one. Area Four offers a bucket of free games to play in the lawn outside and a ton of college specials. These deals include a $12 pizza and a pint; $4 hot dogs; $10 “pie on the fly” or pizza to go; a $15 “hangover brunch” which includes “the hot mess”, a delicious combo of your favorite breakfast staples, and “anecdotal cocktail”. The multiplicity of Area Four makes a hectic college schedule manageable by offering an easy way to transition from work, to dinner, to play, all under one roof.

Check out Area Four, located at 500 Technology Square in Cambridge or visit their Facebook page. It is sure not to disappoint!
