6 Reality TV Shows You Need to Start Watching

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tufts chapter.

Because we know you’re already Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

1. The Bachelor/Bachelorette

Is it filled with highly problematic gender representations? Yes. Is it super entertaining television? Also yes. Tune in to the latest season of “The Bachelor,” premiering this January, to get your fix of make-outs, break-ups, and clearly staged shots of bachelor Ben staring off into the distance, conveniently shirtless.

2. Dance Moms

Is there anything better than watching a grown woman yell at small children for not doing a plié properly? I think not. Watch as dance teacher Abby Lee Miller and a group of intense momagers (mom-managers) launch dance careers for children who probably just want to have a normal childhood like everyone else… okay, Mom???

3. Catfish: The TV Show

This MTV show features the investigations of documentarians Nev and Max into online relationships that seem a little… fishy (hehe). Do their methods consist of things anyone could do, like Googling? Sure. But it’s worth it for the big reveal at the end of each episode, when we find out who each hopeless romantic has really been talking to.

4. Project Runway

This design competition has everything you could want out of a reality show: drama, tears, Tim Gunn shaking his head, and fabulous clothing. Above all, it’s fun to watch incredibly talented people whip out a ball gown in under 24 hours.

5. Chrisley Knows Best

I honestly don’t know if I could begin to describe the perfection of this reality show. It features an incredibly rich southern family run by “patriarch of perfection” (barf) Todd Chrisley. He loves to tell everyone what to do. Yes, that’s pretty much the whole premise. It’s so bad that it’s good – trust me on this one.

6. Are You the One?

“Are You the One?” puts ten guys and ten girls into one house under the premise that there are ten pairs of “perfect matches” here, and it is up to them to find their one true love. Oh, and if they do find their true love, they split a million dollars. This show has everything that you would expect when you combine love, money, and a lot of partying.
