10 Thoughts You Have While Planning a Group Costume

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tufts chapter.

Halloween is upon us, and you know what that means: it’s the season of group costumes. Halloween, as Mean Girls so eloquently puts it, “is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total sl*t and no other girls can say anything about it.” Therefore, the streets of college campuses everywhere will be flooded with black cats, playboy bunnies, superheroes, and my personal favorite: girls in oversized button downs, or “Risky Business.” Here are the 10 things that run through your mind while trying to escape the most generic costume choices, before you almost inevitably end up dressing as cowgirls or princesses.

1. “This year I want to go all out for Halloween!”

2. “But I have to do a witty group costume…”

3. “First we have to find the perfect balance between sexy and cute.”

4. “And make sure we still can dance in our costumes.”

5. “Are animals too basic?”

6. “Are vampires too scary?”

7. “What if people can’t tell what we are?”

8. “That’s it. I give up!”

9. “WAIT! I’ve had an epiphany!”

10. “Just wait ’til everyone sees our costumes.”
