10 Classic Trends To Be Thankful For This Holiday Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tufts chapter.

From buying holiday gifts to making fabulous plans for New Years Eve, we could all use a little help choosing what outfit to wear during the busy holiday season. So why not just stick to the classics?

  1. Blazers

Look classy and sophisticated in a blazer. Prefer to remain traditional? For those of us who like to have a little more fun try mixing it up with textured material such as velvet or wool hounds tooth print.

  2. Plaids

This pattern is not just for hipsters or the extremely preppy. Try it in a casual knit sweater or a flannel shirt. (Note: Can also be used to look festive, without ending up looking like a Christmas tree!)

  3. Animal Prints

This trend is not only the bold. It ensures that your outfit will look chic and trendy. For those wanting to stick to the safe side, incorporate it into your outfit with a handbag or clutch. For those on the wild side, go for the snakeskin pants.

  4. Riding Boots

Popularized by the equestrian sport in which they were used, these boots are now a stable in any modern girls wardrobe.

   5. Pea coats

Stay warm and look classic? There is really nothing to lose by flaunting a peacoat. For those looking for a little more fun try adding a fur collar, fun textures, or a color blocking pattern.

   6. Pearls

Julia Child wore them in the kitchen, and women today can wear them anywhere! To work, school, that holiday party; pearls are always charming and sophisticated, yet casual and cute.

   7. Black Pants

You can wear black pants with anything, to anywhere. They are the modern girl’s staple. With them one can easily transform an outfit from night to day, and from work to play.

    8. Cardigans

No longer just for your grandma. Cardigans this season are incorporating a little playfulness with fur collars, brass buttons, and bold colors.

    9. Ballet flats

Don’t want to end up icing your feet at the end of the day because you wore those dreaded heels again? You do not have to! There is a solution: wear ballet flats! Ballet flats exude a classic and refined look and go with anything. From jeans to bandage skirts; work to home, they are a lifesaver for your feet and cute too.

10. Capes

No, not like the one that Superman totes. These kinds of capes are classy and sophisticated, not shiny and red. Try one in a neutral color, such as camel or stone.
