Tips for Going Out in the Winter

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Trinity chapter.

Snow and freezing temperatures might seem like a major obstacle when going out this winter for us collegiettes™ at Trinity College; however, with these helpful tips you will find yourself counting down the days until next Thursday.

  • Start making more seasonal drinks for your pregames. Try hot chocolate or coffee with Bailey’s that will keep you warm all night long! Or peppermint schnapps for a delicious wintery treat. Search online for more fun drink ideas that will heat up any party!
  • Wear a big warm coat out. Do not try to run from your dorm to Psi U or AD without one, even if your beer jacket seems warm enough at the time. Otherwise you will be stuck inside for the next few weeks suffering from your new cold. Buy a cheap jacket from Target or even the Salvation Army, so you won’t worry if you lose it. This is also a great opportunity to ask that cutie from class to borrow his coat for the night.
  • Do wear your rain boots or Trinity’s personal favorite L.L. Bean boots out. Don’t bother trying to wear flats or heels, you will ruin them and end up with freezing toes! Layer your thickest socks underneath for extra warmth.

  • Wear pants, leggings, or tights. Black tights go great with any outfit and provide your legs with some protection from the freezing wind. Leggings and pants are also great options with cute tops for a winterized look! So start investing in some eye-catching shirts.
  • Take advantage of the Campus Safety Shuttle. Download the iphone application so you can plan ahead and track its location throughout the night!
  • Start a late night snowball fight with your cute neighbors. When everyone is back waiting for their late night pizza to arrive, have everyone put on extra layers and start an impromptu fight! You will warm up in no time running around campus.
