Things To Do With Your S.O. on Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Trinity chapter.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and that means it’s time to plan your special day to celebrate the love between you and your significant other. If you haven’t already created a game plan, have no fear; it’s not too late! Even if you’re in a long distance relationship and don’t get to spend Valentine’s Day together with your SO, there are still plenty of things to do! Here are a few ideas to help you brainstorm the perfect day.

Brunch: Because Valentine’s Day falls on a Sunday this year, why not start your romance-filled day with some delicious Sunday brunch? Nothing starts a day better than a quality breakfast. For Trinity couples looking for hot brunch spots in the area, Grant’s, First and Last, Hartford Baking Company, Blue Plate Kitchen, and A.C. Peterson’s are a few ideas!

Movies: A great way to get some quality bonding with your SO is to play a romance movie, the sappier the better. Even if your SO is in another city or state, you two can start the same movie at the same time and watch it together on Skype. Great rom-coms include Trainwreck, Life As We Know It, 27 Dresses, What Happens in Vegas, and The Ugly Truth. If you’re looking for a good cry, The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, Les Miserables, The Vow, and One Day are sure to make you break out the tissues.

Turn your SO into a Lord or Lady: If you are a landowning Scotsman, you are considered a Laird (the Scottish equivalent to Lord or Lady). Highland Titles Nature Reserve located in Glencoe Wood gives you the opportunity to become just this. You can purchase a plot of land in the reserve in your SO’s name, deeming them a Lord or Lady. Not only are you giving your SO a title, but also are helping to conserve nature. What’s cooler than that? Visit www.highlandtitles.com for more information.

Flowers and More: Order your SO beautiful flowers to brighten the day. I highly recommend using www.proflowers.com they always deliver the most stunning flowers. Some other great alternatives (or even better, additions) to flowers include Edible Arrangements, chocolate, stuffed animals, and jewelry. All of these can be both hand delivered by you or ordered to your SO if you’re in an LDR.

Get Creative: Some of the most meaningful gifts are the ones from the heart. Write an original poem or paint a picture for your SO. Another idea is to write a handwritten letter to your significant other in time for Valentine’s Day. No matter what you chose to do, your SO will appreciate all the effort you put into creating your handmade gift because it’s made by you.
