The process of rushing a sorority can be stressful and anxiety inducing. Of course you want to show up dressed as your best self, so here are some wardrobe tips to help you make the right impression!Â
Â
1) Find the balance between daytime and cocktail attire. If you’re wearing a dress that is on the fancier side, pair it with simple sandals instead of heels so that you don’t look like you’re going to a formal. Check out Frill Clothing (http://frillclothing.com/), a fashion company dedicated to sorority style.
2) That being said, don’t show up in jeans and a top. You want to look nice, not like you don’t care. Always go for a dress or a skirt and top combo!
3) Make sure you aren’t showing too much skin. Deep v necklines are a definite no- keep in mind that you’ll be mingling with girls, so no need to pull out your best body con.Â
4) Whatever you wear, be comfortable in it. You’ll be meeting people and doing a lot of talking, so the last thing you should be worried about is pulling at your hem line or how sore your feet are in your new wedges.Â
5) Wear an outfit that you love, not something that you think everyone expects you to wear. There’s a lot of pressure to try to fit in but often times the best girls are the most unique.
6) Talk to EVERYONE! Sure it’s awkward and it’s three hours a night of girl flirting, but regardless of whether or not you get a bid, rushing is a great way to meet older, inspiring girls. You never know what connection you might make with someone!
7) Have fun and don’t get discouraged. There are tons of girls vying for a bid and only a select number of spots in each organization. Do not take it personally if you don’t get a bid- you may just come out stronger than before. If you do get a bid, be prepared to make incredible memories with your sisters for life.
