Her Campus Towson: What is your position?
Josephine Hill: I am the Events Director for Her Campus Towson.
HCTU: How long have you been involved in Her Campus Towson?
JH: I joined HCTU in Spring 2014.
HCTU: What sparked your interest in this activity?
JH: My friend introduced me to the website. I had recently changed my major to Mass Communications when I found out about Her Campus. I thought this would be a great way for me to practice my interviewing and writing skills. I enjoy getting to how people through one-on-one conversations. When I write a profile like campus celebrity or campus cutie, I also make a new friend.
HCTU: How can someone else get involved?
JH: Join us at one of our meetings on Monday’s in University Union room 305 at 6 pm. We encourage anyone with a passion for reading, photography, event planning and writing to join. Bring lots of fun, informational, and fashionable article ideas along with your friends.
HCTU: What tips do you have for people who want to do what you do?
JH: Don’t be afraid to take initiative. You acquire responsibility when you let people know that you are dependable enough to handled that responsibility.
HCTU: What else are you involved in?
JH: I work as an Resident Assitant with Housing and Residence Life. I also work in the Mass Communications Student Service Center.
HCTU: How has this created connections for you personally and academically?
JH: I believe it makes me a more credible and mulit-faceted writer. I’m on the journalism track and Her Campus is exposing me to skills I will use in my Feature Writing and Magazine Publishing classes. I’ll introduce myself to people and let them know I’m with HCTU.
HCTU: What events can we expect you to bring in 2015-2016?
JH: SAVE THE DATE: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30TH, HCOM is having a halloween party in PAWS. We will announce the winner of our annual Her Campus Towson Instagram Halloween Costume Contest. We are also looking to collaborate for a Date Auction featuring our very own Campus Cuties. A Mean Girls Movie Night and more events are in the works. Stay posted and come support Her Campus Towson!
