Thanksgiving Treats and Sweets

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Towson chapter.

It’s almost time for thanksgiving so here are some of my favorite fall recipes that are cute and easy to make!

Nutter Butter Acorns:

This recipe is super easy.  All you need is mini chocolate chips, chocolate kisses and Nutter Butter Bites.  First, melt the chocolate chips in the microwave until smooth to use as a bonding agent.  Spread the melted chocolate on one side of the Nutter Butter then attach a kiss.  Put any remaining melted chocolate in a plastic bad and cut a small hole in the corner.  Use this to make the stem for the acorn. Allow acorns to cool then enjoy!

Pretzel Turkey Cookies:

For these cookies you need chocolate chips, Oreo Fudge Creams, candy corn, candy eyes and chocolate covered pretzels.  First melt the chocolate chips to create a glue for the pretzels. Using the melted chocolate, attach three pretzels to the back of the Oreo, then uses small amounts of melted chocolate for the front of the cookie to make a face, the candy corn being the nose.  Allow cookies to cool in the refrigerator then enjoy!

Autumn Hugs:

For this recipe you need pretzel waffles, Hershey’s Hugs, and candy corn.  These can be done in either a microwave or an oven, but if being done in a microwave keep a close eye on them as to not burn the chocolate.  Preheat oven to 250.  Place pretzels on a sheet with Hugs on top of each pretzel.  Heat for about 3 minutes, checking regularly, until the Hugs are slightly melted, but still maintain their shape.  Remove from oven and press a candy corn into each Hug.  Allow pretzels to cool then enjoy!

Acorn Donut Holes:

For this recipe you need sprinkles, chocolate chips, donut holes, and mini pretzel sticks.  Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave, then take a donut hole and dip it halfway in the melted chocolate.  Roll the chocolate part in sprinkles and allow to cool.  Once cool, stick a mini pretzel in the top to create a stem.  Serve and enjoy!

Roast Turkey Club Sandwich with Cranberry Sauce:

This is a great leftover recipe for after thanksgiving.  All you need is bacon, tomato slices, lettuce, mayonnaise, a bun and of course, the leftover turkey and cranberry sauce.  First toast the bun, then assemble the sandwich and enjoy!
