Music Monday: September 2

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Towson chapter.

Happy Labor Day, Tigers! We hope you’re enjoying the heat of this last weekend of summer and August! This week’s playlist is dedicated to summer and for it’s last hurrah. Use this mix to enjoy the last moments of summer you have before we get back into a full week of school (cringe).

“Take Back the Night” by Justin Timberlake is the teaser for his upcoming album, the sequel to “The 20/20 Experience.”

“Holy Grail” by Jay-Z ft. Justin Timberlake (no such thing as too much JT for one summer) is the epitome of releases from the summer. This song combined with their knockout summer tour that was all the rage reminds everyone of summer.

“I Need Your Love” by Calvin Harris ft. Ellie Goulding is one of the most played songs this summer for its combination of Ellie Goulding’s soft yet powerful voice and Calvin Harris’ mix and DJ skills.

“Crash My Party” by Luke Bryan is that country, free, summertime jam that you can hear from open windows on the road.

“Summertime Sadness” by Lana Del Ray remixed by Cedric Gervais became a featured radio song towards the end of the summer, but made enough of an impact to be remembered this summer of 2013.

“Carried Away” by Passion Pit has its techno dance influences that you heard at parties all summer long. Keep it around to get your self ready at a energetic pace.

“Clarity” by Zedd ft. Foxes is another DJ’d song that has smooth, high tones that will have anyone belting it along.

“Same Love” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis ft. Mary Lambert is one of the most outspoken songs of its time. It speaks volumes of the hetersexual controversy that has been taking over the country. Even with its difficult topic, the song still shines on its own with the talent it features.

“Atmosphere” by Kaskade is another popular EDM song that reminds me of summer. It has dance volume, guaranteeing its place on any party mix.

“Safe and Sound” by Capital Cities found its way onto the radio this summer with its catchyness and upbeat tune.

Summer is sadly over, but we can dwindle for this last week with this playlist. This past four day weekend was just what we needed to have our last summer memories, but we will always have these songs and many more that remind and represent what summer od 2013 meant for us! Lets get ready for an amazing year, a playlist at a time.
