Introducing our new healthy recipe column, Fun With Food Friday! Check back every week for a fun new (and healthy!) snack for you to munch on this weekend.

My first try at grape grahams!

I came across this snack idea over Spring Break while surfing through Lauren Conrad’s website. I knew right away that I had to try it. It sounded quick, easy, tasty, and healthy! I always have graham crackers, cream cheese and grapes in my kitchen so it couldn’t have been easier. My first thought when trying this snack for the first time was, “Wow, that’s so different.” With such an interesting mix of ingredients, I should have expected the taste to be equally interesting. The taste of cream cheese and graham crackers does not stand out as much as the grapes. Instead, they come together to create their own distinct flavor, which was so yummy!

Note: this snack is very filling. So I suggest eating 2 or 3 squares at a time.

What you’ll need…

  • Grapes (you only need three to four grapes per square)
  • Cream Cheese
  • Graham crackers

What you’ll do…

Step #1: Separate your graham cracker(s) into squares.

Step #2: Spread a thin layer of cream cheese onto each square.

Step #3: Cut your grapes in half. *This makes it easier for the grapes to stay on the crackers.

Step #4: Stick your halved grapes onto the cream cheese.

Step #5: Enjoy!

How is this a healthy snack?

Grapes are high in vitamin C and have only 34 calories for 10 of them. You definitely won’t need more grapes then that for this snack.

Cream cheese is high in protein. However, be sure to spread thin layers on your crackers. Cream cheese is good in moderation, but if you use too much, the fat content will eventually become an issue. *This is also important to remember when making your bagels. Thin layers of cream cheese are key!

Graham crackers are a good source or protein with a low fat content.

So next time you have the munchies, don’t go for that bag of Doritos or box of Oreos. Instead, try something that will nourish your body. Try some Grape Grahams!
