Daily Struggles of Being Left-Handed

This list has been shortened because the problems of being left handed in a right-handed world are endless. Should I mention statistics show that left-handed people are more likely to die sooner than a right-handed person is? (The New York Times)

Most left-handed people adjust and get used to using right-handed items, but this list illustrates frequent issues that arise throughout the day.

Let’s begin…

1.)    Writing with any utensil (e.g. dry erase maker, pen, pencil) will result in it smearing & getting on your hand

2.)    Individual desks are not meant for you

3.)    Three ring binders are difficult because the rings are forever in the way

4.)    Having to think about where to sit for meals so you don’t bump into your right-handed family or friends

5.)    Can openers. Many would not think they are are diffcult, but they are

6.)   The stylus on the credit card machines are never long enough

There are other inconveniences that affect us lefties, but as always, we will just have to adjust to this right-handed world. On a positive, at least there is a Left Handers’ Day. This year it is Thursday August 13

Let us end with pictures of left-handed celebrities because we all know the exciting feeling when we notice someone else who is left-handed!

1.)    Angelina Jolie

2.)    Oprah Winfrey

3.)    Seth Rogen
