Cheap and Easy Last Minute Valentine’s Day Ideas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Towson chapter.

Need some last minute Valentine’s Day ideas?  Want to have a fun and easy Valentine’s Day without shelling out a ton of cash? Check out some of these ideas that are stress free and won’t cost you or your date an arm or leg.

Go skating!

You may not have been roller skating since you were little…or ever, but it’s a blast! These places usually put turn down the lights and turn on the disco ball at night. It’s a little old school, but can be a ton of fun. You get to skate to the music, get a workout, and have a great time. If your date is skating better than you, you have an excuse to hold his hand so he can pull you along ;) Check out this arena in Towson called Skateland Orchard. Admission should be around $5.00 and rentals should be around $2.00. You can also find a places to go ice skating. I prefer roller skating though, I tend to fall on my butt less.

Sonic

Hit up Sonic on Liberty Road off of 695 West. Its a little bit of a drive, but is so worth it. It’s a good place to go for Valentine’s Day if you and your date are not quite serious yet. Sample a bunch of different things with your date. You can order in your car and they bring it to you. It may not be the typical V-day spot to eat…but your guy will probably love you for not pressuring him shell out tons of cash at a fancy restaurant. It also shows how down to earth you are. They have a chocolate and cherry shake for V- day that looks great.

Have a cheesy Valentine’s night

This would probably be better to do with the girls. Everyone should have a limit, like $10, and try to get THE CHEESIEST V-day gift possible. Once everyone gets together put everyone’s name in a hat, and pull out two at a time. The two names pulled each time will swap their gifts. Spend the rest of the night watching ridiculous V-day types of movies. It’s not so ridiculous but I LOVE Under the Tuscan Sun. If you want more of a classic try You’ve got mail.  You could also watch Failure to Launch with Mathhew McConaughey  or Keith with Jesse McCartney…yes, Jesse McCartney. I actually really liked that movie.

Have a winter time photo shoot

Include props like red heart pillows, bright flowers from Michael’s, or just your beautiful self. Go out to a wooded place, like the Glen Woods, and take pictures with your friends or your guy. The contrast between the bare trees and bright accessories really make stunning pictures. Afterwards, have a nice picnic out in the outdoors. Make sure you dress warm, bring a blanket to sit on, and bring lots of warm comfort foods and hot chocolate/coffee.

Dinner and a movie

If you still haven’t found something you would like to do, there’s always dinner and a movie. If you haven’t seen it yet, Warm Bodies is out. It’s a love story between a mortal girl, and a zombie boy; kind of life Twilight…but with a zombie. Check out the trailer HERE.
