One of Spotify’s most attractive features is the highly-anticipated release of Spotify Wrapped, a compilation of your yearly listening statistics. Spotify defined this year’s campaign as “a celebration of the realest moments that defined your year on Spotify.”

Whether you want to know what song you listened to 300 times after that breakup or not, Spotify is here to remind you of the music that got you through the highs and lows of the past year.

A series of animated graphics appear when you open the app, taking you through your top songs, artists, genres, and more.

Spotify doesn’t just share your personalized listening statistics — it also publishes the top global hits. This breakdown included references to pop culture trends such as the “Roman Empire” and “girl dinner.

Chances are, your Instagram feed has been flooded with annual Wrapped content at some point since the introduction of Wrapped in 2016. With #SpotifyWrapped having over 70 billion views on TikTok, the campaign has become a cross-platform sensation, generating memes and inspiring numerous other brands to create similar annual personalized statistic content.

My 2023 wrapped

Taylor Swift, Spotify’s 2023 top global artist, was unsurprisingly my top artist for the fifth year in a row. She was followed by Maisie Peters, Phoebe Bridgers, Sabrina Carpenter, and Gracie Abrams. Both Carpenter and Abrams were new additions to my playlist in the past year.

As a huge fan of Maisie Peters since 2018, it’s no surprise she was my second most listened-to artist for the second year in a row, especially considering she released her sophomore album in June (that’s a lot of twos; what a coincidence). My top five songs of the year were all from her 2023 record, The Good Witch.

I was very fortunate to see all my top five artists live on stage in 2023. Those experiences were some of my best memories that I will be forever grateful for, no matter the rankings of my listening statistics.
