For the Rain (Original Poem)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Texas chapter.

For the Rain

By Caroline Krenger

I want to thank someone for the rain.

The way it  dribbles on the cobblestones,

Falling from the clouded roof above.

I want to thank anyone for the way it slides,

Tearing down the brick

And stone slabs like tears.

I want to thank you for the life it brings,

After it falls for the green in the grass,

And the plentiful flowers it blooms.

Thanks for the life it give,

And the love it holds.

Thank you for the open arms,

And the trials you’ve told.

I’m sorry for the wrongs I’ve committed,

And the sins that are mine.

Forgive the times I’ve fouled,

And the amendments I’ve yet to survive.

Thank you for this time we share,

And the hands we hold.

Thank you for the life we have,

And the future we hold,

And for the opportunity to embrace this world for all it’s worth.

Most of her writing focuses on politics and civic engagement, characteristically intertwining her journalism with op-ed takes (usually nonpartisan; depends who you ask). Grace enjoys reading philosophy, reading and discussing politics, gushing over her dog, and painting in her spare time. As a true economics enthusiast, she also loves graphs.
