Move out of the way, Valentine’s Day! Leslie Knope has given ladies the holiday we all needed… Galentine’s Day! It doesn’t matter if you’re single or attached because Galentine’s Day is all about you and the amazing women in your life! And what better way to do that with a girl’s night watching movies? Check out this curated list from myself and my best friend, Jillian!

Steel Magnolias (1989)

The OG girl movie. When life is hitting you in all the feels. “Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion”. If you can’t embrace that with your girls, then who can you?

A League of Their Own (1992)

Spring intramurals are just around the corner.  Get your crew motivated to hit the field by taking back “You play ball like a girl”.  It’s a compliment now, fellas.

Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999)

Allison Janney, Ellen Barkin, Kirsten Dunst, Denise Richards, Brittany Murphy, and Kirstie Alley kill (literally and figuratively) as they compete and navigate the dark world of beauty pageants.! Also, this is Amy Adams first major movie role!

In Her Shoes (2005)

If your best gal pal is also your sister, then this movie is for you. Funny, touching, and even a little inspiring, Toni Colette and Cameron Diaz prove that opposites can attract and that no matter what, your family is there for you.

Whip It (2009)

Directed by Drew Barrymore and filmed in and around Austin, this movie follows a small-town girl, Bliss (Ellen Page), who goes against the norm to find her tribe amongst a group of roller-derby mavens.

Hidden Figures (2016)

When we’re less than a month into the semester and you and your girls are already thinking about bailing on Calc 102.  We would still think the moon is made of cheese if not for these beautiful lady brains

The Spy Who Dumped Me (2018)

Two best friends are roped into an international adventure as they figure out who to trust, who to stay away from, and why the heck anyone would dump Mila Kunis! The best part of the entire movie is that fact that these two women remain supportive and caring for each other. The lift one another up and work together to overcome obstacles.
