As someone who loves fashion, I’ve always enjoyed dressing up for Halloween! However, it’s always a struggle to choose who to dress up as each year because I want a costume that’s fashion-forward while not being so niche that no one gets it. Luckily, I’ve compiled a list of some of the cutest Halloween costumes that are unique while still being recognizable. Happy Halloween!

Cher Horowitz (Clueless)

Clueless is one of my favorite movies because it has so many great fashion moments. Who can forget Cher’s yellow plaid number for the first day of school? To dress up as Cher, you’ll need a yellow plaid blazer and skirt, a yellow vest, and long white socks. Plus, you can coordinate with a friend and go as Cher and Dione for a super cute 90s-inspired look.

Suki (The Fast and the Furious)

I’ll admit, I’ve never seen The Fast And The Furious, but I have seen people dressing up as Suki all over social media. Her racecar-driver look is so fun because it’s feminine while still having an edge. This look consists of a purple tank layered over a pink tank and some cowboy inspired pink leather chaps. I’ve seen people DIY the costume with items from the thrift store, but you can also get a pre-made costume from Dolls Kill (although it’s a bit pricey).

Maddy (Euphoria)

Maddy has so many amazing looks from Euphoria so you can really choose your favorite and chances are people will know who you’re referencing. To dress as Maddy in the black dress look, you’ll need a tight black dress with cutouts, black gloves, strappy heels, a headband, and a blue eyeshadow look with a sharp wing.

Princess Mia (The Princess Diaries)

I’ve see this costume all over Pinterest and TikTok and it’s so cute! To dress as Princess Mia from the Princess Diaries, you need some black sunglasses, a white satin dress or a white lacy dress, white opera gloves, black over-the-ear headphones, and a tiara, of course.

Daphne (Scooby-Doo)

I grew up watching Scooby Doo and always loved Daphne’s outfit. To turn this into a group costume, have a friend dress as Velma or get your friends together to be the Mystery Incorporated gang. For Daphne’s look, you’ll need a purple dress, purple headband, green scarf, and boots (really any color works).

Olivia Rodrigo

I love this idea because it’s so recognizable yet you’ll probably be the only one at the party wearing it. To dress as Olivia Rodrigo, I would choose either her blue cheerleader outfit or the corset outfit, both from the “good 4 you” music video. To get the corset look, you’ll need a white corset top, light blue plaid skirt, long black gloves, and wear your hair down long.

Bloom (Winx Club)

Like Scooby Doo, Winx Club was another show I watched so much as a kid. I just put Bloom on this list because she is the main character, but any of the Winx Club girls would be a great choice. Also, this can easily be turned into a group costume which I love. To dress as Bloom, you’ll need a blue crop top and skirt, long blue gloves, blue or white boots, a tiny tiara, and fairy wings.

Barbie

I know this is a more popular choice, but I had to include it on the list since the Barbie movie gave us so many stellar outfits. I have a feeling pink cowgirl Barbie will be the most widespread choice, but there are more unique looks from the film you can dress up as. Some of my favorite looks from the movie include the iconic black and white swimsuit, the pink plaid dress, and the neon roller skater number.

Marie Antoinette

Since the coquette aesthetic is trending all over TikTok, I’ve seen so many people talking about Marie Antoinette. For this costume, you’ll need a pastel corset top, frilly skirt, gloves, tights, and pearl necklaces. The hair and makeup are also a big part of this costume, so I’d recommend wearing an updo and going heavy on the blush!

Padme (Star Wars)

Padme is the only reason why I even bothered watching the Star Wars prequels trilogy. I think she has some of the best costume design in film and there are so many beautiful outfits to choose from. Right now, her all white look has been trending. For that costume, you’ll need a white long sleeve top, white leggings or biker shorts, white boots, a silver arm band, and a white fanny pack (I’ve seen people use their lululemon belt bags for this). Be sure to wear your hair up in a bun too!

I hope these costume recommendations are helpful and get you excited for Halloween!
