Cleaning Supplies You Need For Your College Apartment/Dorm

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Texas PB chapter.

Congratulations! You’re in college, you’re on your own! You are free to do what you want when you want, it’s great, but sometimes it’s also messy and unfortunately your mom’s not here to tell you to clean the mess. That’s okay. You’ve got this but first you’re gonna need some supplies. Cleaning supplies can be intimidating walking down the store aisles there’s so many different bottles, sprays, and wipes. That’s why we are here to walk you through the aisle and avoid buying things you don’t need.

1. The number one thing I recommend you get is an all purpose cleaner. If there is one thing you get on this list make sure it is this. You can use an all purpose cleaner for your counters, desk, door handles, kitchen, sink, and way more. My favorite all purpose cleaner is the Meyers brand in lavender mainly because I love how it smells and leaves my apartment sparkling clean. This cleaner is also available in lots of other scents including basil, honeysuckle, and peony. You can get it at Target for $4.99. Another all purpose cleaner I use and love is Lysol all purpose cleaner. I love this cleaner because it’s an anti- bacterial spray and I can use it to kill any germs that are throughout the apartment. You can find this spray at most grocery stores for $2.49.

2. I also recommend buying some Microfiber rags to clean with. You could always use paper towels but I prefer rags since they are cheaper and are resuable. Microfiber rags can be found anywhere for really cheap. I bought a 12 pack from WalMart for $6.65.

3. Lastly I highly recommend getting a toilet bowl cleaner. I cleaned mine once every week and the cleaner made it very easy to do. I bought the Clorox toilet bowl cleaner cool wave because it didn’t have an overwhelming bleach smell. I got a two pack from WalMart for $3.78.

I found these products though after purchasing tons of products that either don’t work or that I didn’t actually need, hopefully with this list you’ll be able to find products that keep your place tidy without the hassle of figuring out what you need. Now that you know what you should use you’ll be able to keep your space nice and clean which will definitely shock your family when they come to visit!
