Ok, so he isn’t actually on campus – although he was accepted by UTK! – but he is a local senior at Knoxville Catholic High School. HC UTK was so proud of his hard work, we figured we could make an exception on the Campus Celeb, and let this one be a Knoxville Celeb.

Todd Bernstein has been working non-stop for months to organize a charity car show to benefit the American Cancer Society.  On Saturday April 2, his hard work finally came to life.

“I wanted to do something that stood out and would be not only self-rewarding but would benefit others,” Todd told Knoxville News Sentinel reporter Carla Javier. Todd has experienced loss in his family because of cancer, and he wanted ot do his part in the fight to save others from that tragedy.

Todd approached local car enthusiasts as well as local businesses to come out in support of a good cause. There was bowling set up by Strike and Spare Family Bowl, local country radio station Q93 joined the event and brought corn hole, there was a DJ providing the rockin’ tunes, home-made food, and most importantly some awesome cars!

But Todd didn’t do it just for the American Cancer Society.  The event also accepted donations to be given to the family of Kara Schepens, who was killed in a car accident on Feb. 24.

Through his efforts Todd raised over $3,000 in just a few hours. HC UTK is proud to see local teenagers using their time and connections to benefit great causes. Lots of HC love to all of the people that participated in the event, to all the families that have been affected by cancer, and to the Schepens family.

Great job, Todd!
