Everyone knows that Knoxville is a party-hopping, strip-skipping, live-life-to-the-fullest kind of city. The smell of smoke, buffalo wings, and stale alcohol fills the air. The smell only a college student could truly appreciate. One of the most well known places to find this familiar atmosphere is “The Strip,” located on Cumerbland Avenue. The Strip is known for having a great night life for students at the University of Tennessee. However, many students are not able to go to bars and clubs due to their age. Luckily, we have a solution for you!
If you are under age and looking for a club on the strip, New Amsterdam, known more commonly as RT’s, is the place to be. This place is poppin’! Every Friday and Saturday night they have the whole bottom floor open for dancing so you can get your groove on. The cover charge is only $5. In addition, the upstairs of RT’s is rented out for different events such as date parties for sororities and graternities, as well as other events for anyone looking for a venue.
If you’re looking to start your weekend early, Rumorz (formerly Bar Knoxville) has Thursday night specials for those 18 and up. Rumorz is known for having a huge dance floor, bubble machines, and a full menu just in case you want to grab a bite to eat.
Another great place to party all night long (and our favorite place) is The Cider House. The Cider House, located right next to the Valarium, became a separate venue to allow people 18 and up to party after the Valarium became 21 and up only. The Cider House is very spacious and the lights are amazing. It is a great chance to hear local artists, meet new people, and dance the night away! Every Saturday night they hold an event called Midnight Voyage to bring in some local talent ranging from rap to electronic.
So grab your friends, throw on your best dancing clothes and get out there ladies!
