Listen, online classes have been rough and I’ve been itching for a break… And there is no better way to relax than sitting in my room, popping on some music, and playing a video game! So, to combat the stress inducing school year, I’ve compiled a list of 6 games to help you wind down!

  1. Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Now if you’ve been living under a rock during the first wave of quarantine, then you’ve missed out on a huge game. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a life simulation game developed by Nintendo where the player owns their own island. You can fish, plant trees, and build your very own island to perfection. Just remember to check in on your villagers from time to time or else they’ll miss you. You can purchase Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Nintendo.com for the Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite.

  1. Stardew Valley

Similar to Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley is a life simulator where you inherit your grandfather’s old farm in an attempt to help revive the land. I just got the game and it’s super relaxing and fun. Who would’ve thought that my time on farming games in middle school would come in handy? You can purchase Stardew Valley on Nintendo.com for the Nintendo Switch and on Steam for the PC and Mac.

  1. Untitled Goose Game

In the mood for some chaos? Jump into the mind of a chaotic goose whose goal is to wreak havoc on an unsuspecting village and steal a ton of garden supplies. Oh, and don’t forget the dedicated honk button. So grab your goose and get Untitled Goose Game on Nintendo.com for the Switch and on Steam for the PC and Mac!

  1. Monument Valley:

Looking for a puzzle that won’t stress you out? Monument Valley is the game for you! Help Princess Ida weave through multiple puzzles and optical illusions to reach her goal. Set to an amazing soundtrack and full of amazing visuals, Monument Valley will have you hooked for days. You can get Monument Valley for free on the App store and Google Play.

  1. Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Sim

This is not your average dating sim. Dream Daddy places you as a single father who’s new in town and in desperate need of some new friends. You get to meet all of the colorful neighbors and explore new relationships with your dream daddy. Dream Daddy is available on Steam for the PC and Mac. It is also available on PlayStation 4, Google play and the App store.

  1. The Sims 4

The list wouldn’t be complete without the OG life simulator. The Sims 4 is the latest incarnation in the Sims franchise and is a whole lot of fun. You can create your own sims and builds or play with the premade townies of each Sims 4 world. The world is your oyster with tons of playstyles, DLC, and custom content from the community. The Sims 4 has something for everyone! Just make sure to keep track of time because you’ll be playing forever. The Sims 4 is available for purchase on Origin or Steam on the PC and Mac and also is available on the PlayStation 4.

Even though this school year may seem like a lot, you always have a little time to yourself. So, sit back and relax and enjoy a little me time!
