Top 5 Comedy Series on Netflix to Relax With

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

Classes can be really rough this time of year and the best way to relax is with a date with our BFF, Netflix. What better way to relax than having a few laughs? Here are the five best TV comedies on Netflix for when you just need to wind down:

LOVE

This sitcom brings a different kind of humor when the main characters meet after troubled past relationships. The story is very soft and the episodes run around 20 minutes. “LOVE” shows the realities of dating in the 21st century and the hardships of making it work, because Gus and Mickey have a huge number of differences. The show currently has one season, but Netflix signed for a second.

Grace and Frankie

Another Netflix original stars Jane Fonda as Grace and Lily Tomlin as Frankie. The ladies find themselves in a difficult situation when their husbands ask for divorces at the same time. They come back together to live in the same house and help and support each other without wanting to choke one another. The show has only one season right now, so it will be easy to catch up.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

One of Tina Fey’s newest works is about a girl who was kidnapped by a priest along with three other girls and kept in an underground bunker. After being rescued fifteen years later, she refuses to go back to her hometown and tries a new life in New York City. She finds a place to stay with a roommate and a babysitting job. The funniest part of the show is her struggle to adapt to the “present world” and help her friends day-by-day.

Jane The Virgin

This TV comedy follows a middle class girl in Miami from an immigrant family who was accidentally inseminated by her boss’ sample as she tries to deal with her pregnancy while there is a crime investigation happening in the hotel she works at. “Jane The Virgin” has two seasons and each episode runs around 40 minutes. It is also a good opportunity to be exposed to other cultures, since the show is influenced by Latin America’s soap opera style.

30 Rock

30 Rock has been on TV for a while, but the old favorite has seven seasons on Netflix for those who haven’t started watching yet. Tina Fey stars alongside Alec Baldwin in a story about the head writer of a sketch-comedy series and her friends at work. This is the kind of show you can watch casually with no anxiety about a lack of new episodes!
