Thousands Head to Indio for This Year’s Coachella

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

Located in Indio, California, just a couple hours from Los Angeles, thousands of people joined together for their love of music. So much went down during the first weekend of Coachella, (April 13th-15th), as well as on the second weekend (April 20th-22nd). Beyoncé, Eminem, and The Weeknd headlined this year’s festival, which also included Cardi B, Migos, SZA, HAIM and the Neighbourhood.

Each night, there was a headliner. Friday was the Weeknd, Saturday was Beyoncé, and Sunday was Eminem. Obviously, Beyoncé’s performance was the highlight. Throughout her performance, she had three outfit changes and a total of 24 songs, including her hits “7/11,” “Crazy in Love” and “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).” She also brought out special guests such as her husband, Jay-Z, her sister Solange, and her former girl group Destiny’s Child, which had everyone freaking out.

Other than music, there were tons of other things to keep concert goers occupied. There were large, gorgeous art sculptures scattered across the property (perfect for Instagram photos) and pop up shops that sold merchandise.

Like every year, a huge part of the Coachella scene is the outfit styles, known as hipster or boho. This includes articles of clothing such as boots, vintage band tees, high waist shorts, maxi dresses, fun hats, flower crowns and sunglasses. Vanessa Hudgens is known for always wearing the cutest clothes.

Many high-profile celebrities attended the festival and like always, they wore some pretty stylish outfits. (Your Instagram feed was probably flooded with pictures from Coachella if you follow any celebs).

Here are a few celebs that attended.

Bella and Gigi Hadid:

Alessandra Ambrosio:

Paris Hilton:

…And our very own Kalen Allen:

Coachella was very expensive and just a General Admission wristband cost $429 for a single weekend, not including hotel, travel, or food and drinks. Don’t worry if you couldn’t attend this year’s festival, because YouTube streamed the entire show and then uploaded it to the official Coachella YouTube channel.
