In my mind, there are only two things that represent the month of February: love and the color red. Red is a color that symbolizes beauty and the power of love. There are many gorgeous shades and hues of red that can be stylish in different ways, and with Valentine’s Day approaching, it’s only fair for us to get ready and find the best shades of red.

Like the perfect lover, there is a perfect red for everyone. Color analysis is the idea of looking at colors that suit your skin tone the best. Remember you can wear whatever color you want; these are all just suggestions, the closet is your oyster.

Before we begin, there needs to be an understanding of undertones and skin tones. Undertones, categorized as cool, warm, or neutral, serve as the subtle undercurrents that influence color compatibility. Finding your undertone only takes a flick of the wrist – literally. If you have blue veins, you are cool, warm tones are green and neutral is a pretty mix, according to Byrdie

Once the undertone is unveiled, consideration shifts to the broader spectrum of skin tones – fair, medium, olive, or deep. Fair complexions often harmonize with pastels, while medium tones find resonance in earthy hues. Olive complexions radiate in jewel tones, and deeper skin tones flourish in the embrace of rich, bold colors. Once you figure out which combination you are, finding the perfect tone or shade of a color is a lot easier.

Fair Skin

For fair-skin girls like Anne Hathaway and Emma Stone, classic red is ideal. Embrace the romantic allure of a classic cherry red to complement your porcelain glow. Think of shades like “Candy Apple” or “Cherry Blossom” to add a touch of sweetness to your Valentine’s Day ensemble. A perfect ruby red lipstick is MAC retro Mate lipstick in the shade Ruby Woo.

Olive Skin Tone

For those with a sun-kissed radiance, like Jessica Alba or Kali Uchis, let the warmth of a crimson red shine on your skin. Explore shades like “Ruby Red” or Scarlet” to enhance your natural vibrancy and evoke the passion of the season. A gorgeous berry lip gloss would be Fenty Beauty lip gloss in the shade Fruit Snackz.

Deep Complexions

It can be tricky to find the right tone of red for darker tones like mine since sometimes it can be overpowering or just wash us out. But as I said before: there is a perfect red for everyone!

Darker skin tones shine with the regal elegance of deep burgundy. Unleash the power of shades like “Wine” or “Berry” to create a luxurious and captivating presence, embodying the richness of love on Valentine’s Day. For makeup products I suggest Glossier’s Cloud Paint Gel Cream Blush in the shade Eve.

Remember, the key is not just in the color but in how it harmonizes with your unique skin tone, making every shade a personal statement of passion and beauty. Valentine’s Day is the time of love and red. No matter whether you take these suggestions or not, I am sure you all will look fabulous.
