For over a decade, a Mean Girls sequel or at least a reunion has been demanded by fans of the early 2000s classic. This movie is seen as more than just an oldie but a goodie, it’s a cultural benchmark in America nationwide. The historic Mean Girls movie has been kept relevant since its release back in 2004. All the hardcore fans have been yearning for an equally iconic sequel since the first. After much anticipation, fans weren’t given a squeal or reunion, but a Walmart commercial…

A ton of original cast members joined together in this black friday commercial for Walmart and even gave each character a tidbit of where they are today. Lindsey Lohan, playing Cady Heron, now works at North Shore High as a guidance counselor and still saying “grool.”

It was so nice being back together after all these years,” Lindsay Lohan shared with People. “It was so great catching up with everyone.”

Lacey Chabert playing Gretchen Weiners is now the “cool mom” to a mini plastic and takes her kids to go deal shopping. Amanda Seyfried returns as Karen, still working as a reporter with a “sixth sense” and dull common sense.

Other original cast members joined in on this witty spinoff commercial such as Daniel Franzese (Damian Leigh), Rajiv Surendra (Kevin Gnapoor), and even Missy Elliott, whose song “Pass That Dutch” is forever associated with the Plastics’ slow-motion stroll of North Shore High plays the role of the new gym teacher.

Even with the excitement of all the returning cast members, someone’s absence went unnoticed regardless. Long-time fans quickly realized Rachel McAdams who plays queen bee Regina George, was nowhere to be found.

So, why wasn’t she present in the making of this commercial with her Mean Girls co-stars? Apparently, the reason is quite simple. All of the movie’s lead actors were invited to appear in the commercial but McAdams turned down the opportunity, according to Page Six.

Even though the disappointment is real, the nostalgia from this commercial is what all hardcore Mean Girls fans need and is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season.

Regardless of the disappointment, hardcore Mean Girls fans are still thankful we were able to see this fetch reunion come to fruition!
