The Best and Worst Dressed at the 2022 Grammys

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

Award show season has always been a favorite time of the year for many due to the extravagant fashion looks and seeing your favorite celebrities interacting with one another. Within this past week, both the Oscars and the Grammys had taken place leaving fashion lovers satisfied, and some dissatisfied with the looks we have been seeing. Out of the two events, the Grammys had been my personal favorite due to my preference for music over movies, the more bold looks, and the familiar faces that were seen on the carpet.

Olivia Rodrigo was the star of the show at this year’s Grammys, and she has been killing the carpet looks these past few shows. Her Vivienne Westwood dress gives her the right amount of edge and glamor that seems very fitting for her personal style.

Dua Lipa is one of the many artists who wore a more simple looking dress and paired it with chunky jewelry. The singer wore a Versace dress, which was also worn by Cindy Crawford in the early 90s. The dress was lacy towards the top and accompanied with black straps, with gold hardware that matched her gold necklaces and bracelet.

Another celebrity who was seen in a Versace dress was Doja Cat. The light blue mesh dress, which was covered in crystals, was paired with a mint looking bodysuit underneath, and a pair of heels that had a matching color. One of the big conversation starters about her outfit was her purse, which was a JBL Speaker. Doja is one of those celebrities who never disappoints on the carpet, and this look has become a fan favorite.

You can call animal print tacky all you want, but Megan Thee Stallion pulled off the leopard print better than anyone else could have. The shades of yellow and orange in the dress looked amazing with her skin tone, and it matched her dramatic eye makeup so well. Despite the dress being on the more simple side, she had two chunky gold bracelets on and dangly earrings.

Despite not being a Lil Nas X fan, he is one of those celebrities I always keep my eyes on. He goes above and beyond for every event he attends and his outfits are always bold, flashy and eye-catching in the best ways possible. This year he wore an all white suit covered in pearls which perfectly contrasted Jack Harlow’s all black suit, who he was seen with on the carpet.

The two looks that I was disappointed by the most were Justin and Hailey Bieber. I am somebody who does love an oversized look, but Justin’s suit looked like it was eating him alive, the shoes were ugly, and the pink beanie did not match anything. As for Hailey, I thought that the white color looked great on her, but the overall look was bland.

Saweetie’s first look on the carpet is something that stood out. Despite not being the only musician in a hot pink dress, her two piece Valentino dress was the right shade that was a flattering color on her skin, and did not clash with the bright red carpet. With the dress, she accessorized with matching hot pink gloves, a diamond necklace and bracelet which gave it the right amount of bedazzle.

By far my favorite look of the night was St. Vincent’s bright pink Gucci dress. Not only was it extravagant and eye-catching, but it was flattering and paired with a minimalist makeup look that didn’t make her overall appearance too extreme.

There are still so many other looks from the Grammys that I can talk about, as most celebrities who attend went above and beyond with their looks. My top three favorite looks are St. Vincent, Megan Thee Stallion, and Doja Cat due to how unique and bold their looks were. Award show fashion has always been a personal favorite of mine, and I cannot wait for the next award show to take place.
