A staycation can be just as refreshing as a vacation. It’s what you make of it!

Spring break season is here and that means vacation…or does it? College students are notorious for going away to beautiful destinations to let loose after stressful midterms and piles of homework. Whether it be sunny beaches in Miami or ski resorts in Vermont, spring breakers glamorize their vacations and capture every second of it on their social media. While jetting off on a fun-filled vacation destination seems like everything you could ever want, showing some love for a spring break staycation can be just as refreshing. Here are some ways to enjoy your break if you are not able to travel:

Shopping Spree!

Take a trip to your local mall or thrift store and spice up your wardrobe for the spring! Take it as a reward for all of your hard work leading up to spring break by going to your favorite stores. Maybe even stop at a cute coffee shop to end your long day of retail therapy!

Try a new restaurant

Nothing better than the rush you get when trying something new. Feel like you’re on vacation by venturing out to a restaurant in your town that you’ve never been to before. Spend some quality time with friends or family over a good meal.

Go to a concert

Be spontaneous and see who’s playing at a venue near you!  It can be a fun night out while also potentially discovering your new favorite artist. Have an open mind and just let yourself enjoy it! Whether it’s a local band or a big celebrity, live music is always a good time.

Try a new hobby

A staycation can also be a time where you focus on yourself and your well-being. Spring break is an opportunity to recharge in order to finish out the semester strong, so do whatever you need to do to feel refreshed and motivated! Picking up a new hobby can do that for you. Some options are journaling, reading, starting a workout routine, cooking, organizing your room, playing an instrument, playing a new video game, putting together cute outfits, or doing makeup. The possibilities are endless! Pick up a hobby that’s out of your comfort zone or focus on the hobby you already have. Either way, it will make you happy and be your escape when things get stressful when you go back to reality.

Your spring break will be what you make of it, so make it as fun-filled as possible! Do things that make you happy, feel productive, and impact you in a positive way. Don’t feel discouraged if you aren’t on a tropical vacation during spring break – your time will come. For now, take time to relax and focus on making the little things into big adventures.
