With some pep in her step and a splash of vibrancy in her demeanor, Nikki Svec, sophomore at Temple, takes on this chilly season with a pop of pizazz and bright fall colors. This trendy Temple Owl never lets anyone see her sweat, whether it’s 90 or -10 degrees outside. Her edgy, boho-chic swagger carries itself so effortlessly, yet is still complementary and harmonious.
“I’m inspired by everything,” Nikki says,“as a stylist assistant at Nordstrom, I’m always around the latest high end couture. I then take those concepts and mix them with more urban or vintage pieces to make them my own. I’d describe my style as ‘Nordstrom-meets-Urban Outfitters.’”
If you’ve ever seen Nikki around campus, she might have been sporting her favorite fall pieces such as “leather circle skirts and blouses with leather detail.”
“I also can’t live without a good heel or wedge.”
Nikki’s favorite fall trends can be found in her segment of Temple Fabs (our school’s very own Fashion & Business Club) blog titled, “Frumpy to Fab.” In each of her posts, she reconstructs girls from head to toe by implementing the current season’s trends.
“I thought a head-to-toe makeover was a dynamic and fun way to demonstrate use of trends,” Nikki says, “makeovers are popular entertainment.”
With TLC’s What Not to Wear and Style Network’s How Do I Look, Nikki thought to bring the idea to Temple.
“I take a ‘before’ picture, do their makeup, style their hair, dress them in a different trend, and then I write about it,” she says, “I also include where I got [the products].”
Her future goal is to provide makeovers to individuals with low income in order to increase their career opportunities with new and stylish looks.
