New Music We’re Obsessed With

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

For many of us, music is an invaluable piece of our everyday lives—the backdrop to our workouts, study sessions, dance parties.

Unfortunately, it’s way too easy to slip into the habit of listening to the same two albums on repeat for a month. Avoid getting stuck in a loop and mix up your music rotation with some of this summer’s certified bops.

1. iridescence – BROCKHAMPTON

Everyone’s favorite blue-faced boy band just dropped a new album, and it’s fire. This album showcases a wide range of musical styles, from quick-tongued verses to slower, more emotional songs.

2. Be the Cowboy – Mitski

If you haven’t heard of Mitski by now, do your music library a favor and check out Be the Cowboy. This alt-rock album showcases her poetic lyrics and beautiful singing voice in a series of short, conceptual songs.

3. Scorpion – Drake

Drake’s newest album is full of summer anthems—“God’s Plan”, “Nice for What”, and “In My Feelings” are only a few. If you loved Drake’s singles and are hungry for more, Scorpion is a monster album with 25 incredible hip hop and R&B tracks.

4. Sweetener – Ariana Grande

We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention 2018’s queen of pop, Ari. Sweetener is full of joy and love, and Ariana’s incredible voice does every note justice. #RIP Pete Davidson

5. Mariners Apartment Complex & Venice Bitch – Lana Del Rey

Okay, this last one isn’t an album… but it’s something just as exciting. The only thing better than one new Lana Del Rey song is TWO new Lana Del Rey songs.

Lana dropped “Mariners Apartment Complex” on September 12th, followed by “Venice Bitch” on the 18th. We can’t wait for the full album to drop—especially if it’s as promising as these two new songs. Bonus: the new album will be called Normal Fucking Rockwell, which is probably the most perfect name ever for a Lana album.

Catch us with our headphones in all semester trying to get as much listening time in as we can.
