My Favorite Products To Create a Dewy Makeup Look For Spring

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

Spring is slowly but surely approaching and I think I’ve finally perfected my no-makeup makeup look for a calm daytime look. Before creating your look you’ll need to make sure your skin is cleansed, moisturized, protected from the sun, and primed. Having a good skincare routine will ensure that your makeup goes on smoothly and stays on all day. The dewy no-makeup makeup look works for anyone no matter what skin type or texture you have, it’s all about the products you use.

Before I start with my makeup products I like to use a cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen formulated for sensitive skin. If you have oily skin I recommend using the CeraVe Renewing SA Cleanser which foams up and strips your skin of any oil to make sure it’s really clean. For a moisturizer, I use the CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion, a great lightweight formula that works for all skin types. As for sunscreen, I have been using the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen Lotion, it isn’t sticky and doesn’t leave a white cast which is perfect.

Now that we’ve done our skincare it’s time to get into the dewy makeup look. You should start by using any primer that you prefer. I’m currently using the Maybelline FitMe Primer which helps my makeup stay on all day and stops my skin from getting too oily. On days when I want a light makeup look, I don’t wear foundation but concealer instead to cover up any small imperfections I may have. This could be acne, redness, dark circles, or dark spots. My current favorite concealer is the Maybelline FitMe Concealer. It’s affordable, lightweight, and easy to blend in.

While my concealer is setting in before I blend it, I begin doing my eyebrows. Brow glue is a miracle worker and it does the best job at taming my brows and keeping them in place. I use the NYX Professional Brow Glue and an applicator to keep the hairs flat. This technique gives a feathered look even before using any product to fill in my brows.

To fill in my eyebrows and keep that feathered look, I’ve recently started using the NYX Professional Lift N Snatch Brow Pen. This creates hair-like strokes to keep my brows looking as natural as possible.

Now that I’ve got my concealer and brows done, time to add some color into my face. I do this by using some blush and not too much of it. A little bit goes a long way with the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in the shade ‘Joy.’ I was never too fond of using blush until this one, it brings a peachy, dewy color to my cheeks that’s perfect for a spring look.

To keep the glowy makeup going I use a sheer tint lipgloss during the daytime. I first layer the Smith’s Rosebud Salve to moisturize my lips and keep them moisturized all day. This lip salve is on the pricier side for chapstick but trust me, it’s perfect for dry lips no matter the season. Over the lip salve, I then layer the Rare Beauty Stay Vulnerable Glossy Lip Balm in ‘Nearly Mauve’. This is my go-to lip gloss for when I want to bring a little bit of shine and sheer color to my lips.

It’s time to finish the look off and keep it lasting all day so, I set it with the Rare Beauty Always An Optimist 4-in-1 Prime & Set Mist to ensure the products stay in place. This setting spray is vegan, good for all skin types, and lotus, gardenia, and white waterlily that helps soothe and calm your skin. All of these products work together to offer a lightweight and dewy look that I can keep wearing no matter the season, event, or skin concerns I have.

Keep in mind that this is what works for me so if you don’t like a certain product feel free to switch it out for something you love. As long as you have a good skincare and base routine your makeup look is going to come out perfect for you every time.
