Ludacris & PartyNextDoor Hit the Stage for Homecoming

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

As homecoming festivities continued through the weekend, students filled The Liacouras Center on Saturday evening to enjoy the homecoming concert. The concert, featuring PartyNextDoor and Ludacris filled the entire building with energy and excitement. The concert began promptly at 9 p.m. with HCTU’s own Izzy Gaymon as the host.

To start things off, Canadian based PartyNextDoor performed singles and songs from his EP, PartyNextDoor which was released in 2013. He engaged the crowd and encouraged them to sing along to his hits, including “Recognize” featuring Drake. It was easy to tell from the crowd’s response that it is a fan favorite. PartyNextDoor has a relaxing sound, but he also brought energy into the room so there was a good balance.

Next, the crowd tried to contain their excitement as they anticipated the arrival of Ludacris to the stage. Students began chanting “Luda” as they waited. After a few minutes, his DJ emerged on the set. He engaged the crowd with some call and response and finally Ludacris hit the stage.

Ludacris performed a variety of Billboard hits from his catalog including “What’s Your Fantasy” and “Move,” as well as some album cuts. In search of his true fans, Luda asked the audience to recite the verses from his older hits up to his most recent material. He was quite impressed with the audience’s response and deemed them loyal and true fans. Of course Luda lived up to his reputation and brought much enthusiasm to the stage. He definitely did not disappoint.

Overall, MCPB did an amazing job with the artists they selected for this year’s homecoming concert. There were good vibes and high spirits all around; students seemed to enjoy the show. It was a nice way to end a great week of events celebrating all that is Temple.
