Louis Tomlinson Releases Honest and Upbeat New Single “Just Like You”

Louis Tomlinson surprised fans with his third single as a solo artist titled “Just Like You” at midnight on Oct. 12, 2017.

The British singer and songwriter announced the news of his new single on Twitter just hours before its release.

He began by tweeting, “So I wrote a song called Just Like You a few months ago. After a few conversations with the label I told them that I wanted to release it.”

He then continued, “My next single will be a bit later this year but I wanted to share this with you now. This is for you lot! #JustLikeYou. The song will go live on the usual platforms at midnight local time. NZ and Aus be ready. This is one of my favourites from the album. Conceptually I think it’s sums me up!”

Following his previous singles, “Just Hold On” with Steve Aoki and “Back to You” with Bebe Rexha, Tomlinson lets his voice and lyrical talents take full stage in “Just Like You.”

The song has a similar EDM kind of vibe, much like his other two singles, however, “Just Like You” reveals more about the singer himself.

Tomlinson sings heartfelt and honest lyrics that let his fans know he is more like them then they realize. He wants them to know that there is more to him than the material things, and that he too struggles with his own personal problems. He expresses this when he sings, “I’m just like you, even though my problems look nothing like yours do. Yeah, I get sad too, and when I’m down I need somebody to talk to.”

Tomlinson released a lyric video for his new single on Oct. 17, 2017.

The video is composed of newspaper letters spelling out the lyrics of the song, with various headlines in the background, some about the singer himself. This is fitting considering Tomlinson sings, “Headlines that I can’t stand. But you only get half of the story. The cash and the cars and the glory.”

Although Tomlinson has not announced when his album will be released, fans are anxiously waiting.

Until then, I will be playing his three singles on repeat.
