After fifteen years since The Bachelor first aired on TV, the show has finally cast its first African American lead. It shows that The Bachelor franchise is becoming more diverse and is definitely progressing in its contestant’s choices and their pick for the leads. This shows how entertainment is progressing, becoming more diverse, and changing for the better.

Rachel is the perfect person to cast this lead, too. She has everything a guy looks for in a girl. She’s understanding, humble, fun, intelligent, and more. Rachel was really excited and happy when she got offered to be the next Bachelorette. She told Michael Strahan from Good Morning America, “I’m honored to have this opportunity and to represent myself as an African-American woman. And I just hope that people rally behind me like they did in Nick’s season.” Watch the video here.
