How To Embrace This Fall Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter and does not reflect the views of Her Campus.

Have you felt the change in the air yet? Is the cool breeze inspiring you to bring out your favorite sweater again? Have you heard the crunch of a perfectly crisped red and orange leaf?

I love fall and I’m so excited that class is back in session. Autumn can pass quickly, so it’s important to embrace the time we have between the scorching summer sun and the freezing winter breeze.

Here are some of my favorite fall activities to embrace the shifting colors, cooling air, and coziness of this season!

  1. Carving/Painting Pumpkins

Decorating and customizing pumpkins is a cute fall activity. This year I’ve even seen trends of people bedazzling their pumpkins. In whichever variety you choose, this is a creative way to sit down and take time for some seasonal arts and crafts.

I love doing this with friends or family as well, I think it’s a great way to connect with loved ones and slow down to be present in the moment.

Philadelphia’s Morgan Pier has Fall Fest where they have pumpkins to carve, live music, and festive food/ drinks. They are doing this for the rest of October, so you have plenty of days to choose from to embrace this fun activity!

  1.  Apple Picking

I absolutely love to go apple picking. It’s so enjoyable to go to the farm, take the hayride to the fields, and walk through the orchards in search of your perfect apples to fill a bag.

Finding a place to go apple picking may be a bit of a further commute outside of Philadelphia, but there are plenty around to choose from! Walking through these fields can also be perfect for a super cute fall photoshoot!

The fun doesn’t stop there though, once you pick the apples, you can then bring them home and make tasty fall treats. You can make apple pie, your own apple cider, apple fritters, and so much more! Definitely consider adding apple picking to your weekend plans!

  1. Fright Fest/Haunted Houses

Fall is the season of spooky! Six Flags has a fun Fright Fest during the fall season where people in Halloween costumes roam around the park to scare and chase you.

There are also multiple haunted house attractions in Philadelphia to check out. If you’re looking to embrace the Halloween spirit with some scary thrills and a pump in adrenaline, check these places out!

  1. Movie Marathon

My favorite Halloween movie has always been the Disney movie Girl vs Monster. It’s a throwback that I will never stop rewatching during this time of year. I’m not a fan of horror (checks out since my scary movie of choice is a Disney movie), but if you are then there are hundreds of scary movies to choose from.

Also, a comfy night in and movie marathon doesn’t have to be Halloween themed. There are so many tv shows and movies remind me of fall, like The Hunger Games, for example.

  1. Painting Pottery

Just last week I went out to paint pottery, and I think it’s such a lovely activity to do when being outside becomes a little too chilly. There are many places to choose from that all let you pick the pottery of your choice to paint!

When I went to The Pottery Spottery, a couple stops past Center City on the Septa, they had options of jack o’lanterns, ghosts, vampires, and more! It’s a sweet activity to do while also designing a new fall decoration for your house!

Conclusion

In my opinion, fall is a beautiful time of year. I think going for a walk, enjoying the fresh crisp air, and stepping on crunchy leaves is a great time, but there are also other ways to embrace the season’s change! Listed above are just a few options, but there are many more fall or Halloween activities to do.

So please don’t miss out and add some festivity into your fall this year!
