How to Steal Bella and Gigi Hadid’s Iconic Fall Looks on a Budget

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

Similar to the majority of college students (and probably you reading this article), I’m broke- and I LOVE to shop. Fall is the best time of year for fashion, with the colder weather allowing for much more room for exploration, and of course NYFW. Also like other students, I get a lot of my outfit inspiration from Instagram, with two girls in particular- Gigi and Bella Hadid. Ever since being toddlers (which we see from mom Yolanda’s instagram) these two have slayed the fashion industry. I always dreamed of having their wardrobe, and decided to stop daydreaming and put to the test if I could wear these looks for fall without dropping my savings- you’re welcome.

1. Chic athleisure

It took me a while to figure out which outfits I thought would be most practical in my wardrobe for fall, and I decided to start with this athleisure look on Gigi. My favorite part of that look was the jacket- I LOVE a cute bomber jacket for the fall, and I had never seen one styled in this type of a way (of course you did that, Gigi). This one from Shein is the same type of sporty look- the classic chic bomber with the sporty material of a windbreaker, for $11! My other fav part of this look are the leggings. I found this pair that are similar from Forever 21, because you know cute leggings make you more motivated to workout. Cut this Tilly’s short sleeve t-shirt yourself a little bit so it’s above the edge of your Kohl’s sports bra, tie this Forever 21 sweater around your waist with some ASOS sunnies and you’re ready to go!

2. Denim on denim

This look caught my eye immediately, because I’m in LOVE with the off-the-shoulder half-buttoned jean jacket look. Of course, it isn’t the most comfortable or practical, but you’ll look super cute and on top of your fashion game. Pro tip- get a jean jacket like this Charlotte Russe one, and get it in a couple sizes bigger than normal if you can, so it’s roomy enough that you can pull it off your shoulders. Paired with some medium wash jeans like these from Bloomingdale’s, a white crop top underneath from Express and some red Elf lipstick and you’re ready to take the day! Throw on some heels and make it a night outfit too- a girl could never wear an outfit too many ways.

3. Statement coats

Okay for starters – sister GOALS, am I right?! Winter jackets are always my favorite part of fall into winter, since they have the power to transform anything you wear with them. You can’t even tell what Gigi and Bella are wearing under those jackets and does anyone care? Not at all! This dupe of Gigi’s from Forever 21 is a closet staple- that black and white pattern can go with anything, and houndstooth will never go out of style. For girls who like to keep it a little more classic, this black belted dupe of Bella’s from Kohl’s will always be a crowd pleaser. Faux fur is another gorgeous trend, and it’ll help keep you warm too! Pair a grey turtleneck from Abercrombie like Gigi underneath, and you’re ready for whatever the season hits you with- and look effortless as you do.

4. Metallic menswear

I had to end it with a classic look- menswear. On a woman. You know you’re loving it. This one was a little harder to find for cheap because they’re typically really expensive like Bella’s when they all come together in a set, so I found some mismatched pieces that combined different ways or with pieces you already have can make a couple great outfits. This metallic ASOS blazer with some pink metallic ThredUp dress pants or silver metallic ASOS pair, you’ll be sure to look your most business-professional glam. To throw in another trend this season, you could even try this velvet jacket from Lulu’s. Bottom line- menswear isn’t just for men, and Bella is absolutely KILLING it in a man’s world.

Don’t worry- nobody knows how many hours you spent scrolling through their feed obsessively trying to find a flaw and copy these looks. We totally don’t understand, because we’ve NEVER done that before either. The next time your friend points out Gigi or Bella’s amazing fall outfit and you can whip one of these items out of your closet (and still have some cash to buy everyone ice cream), you can thank us later.
