It’s been a weird year. Halloween is coming up, and while it’s going to look a little different this year, there are still ways to celebrate! Here are a few ideas to enjoy the spookiest day of the year, while looking out for the health of yourself and others.

Watch a Spooky Movie on Netflix Party!

If you haven’t already downloaded Netflix Party, you’re missing out. It’s a free Google Chrome extension where you can watch a movie in sync with your friends and send each other messages in the chat feature. If you’re like me, you can watch something lighthearted like The Addams Family but there’s also lots of horror options like Poltergeist.

“Boo” Your Friends

In elementary school, it was so exciting to get booed! For those of you not familiar with it, “booing” is when you ding dong ditch someone and leave some Halloween goodies in front of their door. This is a great way to celebrate Halloween with your friends in a socially distant way, since it’s no-contact.

Dress up With the Roomies!

Obviously large gatherings aren’t safe this year, but you can still dress up with your roommates (or family if you’re home this semester).  Put on your costume, and then bake a fall-inspired treat like autumn spice cake, or apple turnovers. If you’re feeling lazy, just pop those delicious Pillsbury cookies with the pumpkins or ghosts on them in the oven (you know the ones.) Put on a Halloween movie and have fun staying in!

Ghost Photoshoot!

Technically you could do this any day, but it sounds even more fun on Halloween! If you haven’t seen the TikTok trend,  you and your roomies dress up as ghosts using a white sheet and go take pictures at whatever location you please. (Here’s one with pictures around Philadelphia!) This is a great option because it gets you out of your apartment but only requires you to be with people who live in your household.

Have a happy, healthy, and spooky Halloween!
