As we know, when cramps arrive we may like to take over the counter medicines, this can include; Advil, Tylenol, etc. Though these cause quick relief, over time, the continuous usage can impact your health. Here are some other ways to relieve the pain of cramps:

Exercising

Exercising is a very good way to help with decreasing your pain from cramps. Doing some exercises such as the cat/cow pose or cobra pose can help with your pain and also increase your mood. As we know, our cycle can mess with our moods and exercising is one of the best things to help with that.

Eating well

Believe it or not sometimes your cramps hurt because you haven’t been eating well or eating at all. To decrease this, you should eat foods rich in iron and protein. I like to eat oatmeal on my cycle to make sure there is something hot in my stomach and I drink a lot of smoothies and teas. Eating healthy and staying active will help diminish your cramps.

Birth control

This has been something used by a lot of women to prevent pregnancies, but birth control is also helpful with taking away cramps. You need to consult with a professional in guiding you towards the birth control you should take. It can also cause your periods to become irregular or shorter. It is always best to consult your doctor to make sure this is right for you.

My Holy Grail

The reason this last option is called my holy grail, is because I can use it whenever needed and still live my day to day life. My holy grails are heating pads, especially the menstrual heat wraps by ThermaCare. I can use it anywhere without having to plug it in. You just place the heating pad on your stomach and it lasts for about 8 hours. The best part is that you don’t have to be miserable at home and you can still be active. Another option for the heating pads are made by Rae and can be found in Target for about $8.

I hope this has helped you to find different ways, in helping to diminish your cramps and remain sane during your cycle!
