It’s easy to get caught up in the lives of influencers and compare ourselves, our lives, and our bodies to theirs. Here are five TikTok accounts for your feed that promote body positivity, combat unrealistic beauty standards, and celebrate self-love!
- Brittani Lancaster
-
It’s no question why Brittani has 767.7k followers on TikTok. Her positivity, warmth, and transparency makes her a ray of sunshine in the TikTok community. Lancaster is in her fourth year of recovery from two eating disorders. She uses her platform to share her story, to promote a healthy relationship with food, and to fight diet culture by posting “What I Eat in A Day,” videos that showcase a balance between fruits and veggies and sweet treats. Follow her @brittanilancaster for reminders that all bodies are beautiful!
- Victoria Garrick
-
A former Division I volleyball player at the University of Southern California, Garrick was originally an advocate for mental health, specifically athletes. She still advocates for athletes, but has reached a giant audience on TikTok since then. Garrick’s TikTok celebrates intuitive eating, embracing your rolls, and exercising as a way to feel good rather than as a punishment. Many of her videos frequently showcase her stomach and back rolls, which are areas that many girls feel insecure about. Garrick emphasizes that all parts of our bodies are worth loving. Join her “army” of 549.1K followers @victoriagarrick4.
- Sienna Mae Gomez
-
At just 16 years old, Sienna Mae Gomez is diminishing unrealistic beauty standards on TikTok. Similar to Garrick, Gomez posts videos with her whole stomach on display, reminding teens that many influencers simply know how to manipulate angles and photoshop, and that unedited, unposed bodies are wonderful! Gomez accidentally became viral after posting a dance video meant for her friends. She danced to Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” and highlighted the ways her stomach jiggled, showing what an unedited body looks like dancing and having fun. This resonated with many teens on TikTok, and grew Gomez’s following rapidly. Follow Sienna for more dancing and self-love @siennamae.
- Kristine Thompson (Ms. Kristine)
-
Ms. Kristine does it all! Not only does she have 530K followers on TikTok, but she also runs a fashion blog and owns a clothing business called Kin by Kristine. Thompson emphasizes to her followers that curvy women can wear whatever they want! It can be tough for plus-size or curvier women to find cute, trendy clothes from major retailers, so Ms. Kristine uses her platform to show curvy women how they can be fashionable and fabulous in a world that isn’t always inclusive to them. Get some awesome style tips from Ms. Kristine @trendycurvy.
- Kendra Austin
-
Kendra Austin is a plus-sized model and advocate for health at all sizes. She reminds her followers that weight isn’t always indicative of health because of things like genetics and chronic illnesses, and even spreads awareness on how fatphobia is linked to classism and racism. She’s also a huge advocate for destigmatizing the word “fat.” One of her most viral videos, posted in August, explains that “fatness and beauty can actually exist within the same person.” Go follow Kendra @kendramorous for more body positivity!
There are so many more accounts that dismantle diet culture and celebrate all bodies, but this should be a great start to add some self-love to your feed!
