We all struggle with the question day in and day out of, “What do I wear today?” and this question becomes increasingly difficult when you have your first interview for a new job, internship or a presentation that requires you to dress up. The lines between business casual and business professional tend to be confusing, so I am here to help clear this up, show pictures and give examples of what to wear and the best places to get them!

The difference between business professional and business casual is just that, the level of professionalism involved in the outfit. For an event, interview or workspace that is business professional, a suit, appropriate/well fitting pants or a skirt (correct length-to the knee) Pair one of these with a button down and a blazer over top. Don’t forget comfortable and presentable shoes! You are representing your best professional self; you want to convey the correct message.

Ali is interview ready in this business professional outfit. She has black, slightly flared pants from Banana Republic, a go to, a colored shell from Ann Taylor Loft and blazer from LC by Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s. She chose to wear black Michael Kors flats that she knows she can walk miles in, still be comfortable and fashionable and a simple Michael Kors tote to pack her portfolio and other key items in! She has on simple jewelry and her hair up and out of her way and modest make up- this is not a fashion show, no need for big hair and major make up!

Get the look!

Pants- Add some style with pinstripes at Gap

Or add some color, not too much, with gray from Loft (And remember, never pay full price, there will be a sale!)

Blazer- Do not go too crazy with color but do not be too bland either!

The Shops at Target offer a great, new style but affordable pricing!

Jazz it up with a nice shell!
